I have been a fan of Apple products for six years now but that’s all come to an end since Apple treats their customers like shit. I purchased a Macbook Pro a year ago and I really liked it… until just recently when I found out that Apple lies about their displays.
The problem is that Apple says on their site, that the Macbook Pro display has “support for millions of colors.” This is not true because if you go to the display manufacturer’s website (in my case it’s LG), and look up the model number of the display, it says that it only supports 262,144 colors.
The reason Apple can claim that the Macbook Pro renders millions of colors is by a process called dithering. Dithering is defined as, the process of juxtaposing pixels of two colors to create the illusion that a third color is present. A simple example is an image with only black and white in the color palette. By combining black and white pixels in complex patterns a graphics program like Adobe Photoshop can create the illusion of gray values.
So I asked Apple to refund my money for my Macbook Pro since this is false advertising and they wouldn’t, surprise, surprise. This is why I hate this company and will never purchase another product from them again. They think that they can do anything that the want without consequences.
